History

Launched in 2013 with Scubaspa Yin, our unique concept of a liveaboard with an onboard spa was the dream of a passionate diver and his physiotherapist wife, who happened to spend their honeymoon in the Maldives. The floating resort concept was designed to appeal to both dedicated divers and non-diving companions, combining a chic spa with thrilling diving. A year later, Scubaspa Yin was joined by an identical sister yacht, Scubaspa Yang.

Social Responsibility

The Maldives is one of the world's most vulnerable ecosystems, with its fragile biodiversity visibly affected by global environmental changes. It is also facingsignificant challenges in responding to plastic pollution and related ocean threats.

Scubaspa passionately supports all environmental programs partnering with government agencies, local NGOs, waste management businesses and marine experts.

All our waste is treated with a state-of-the-art sewage treatment plantsinstalled on both vessels.

We do our best to reduce plastic use by installing mineralized water plants and eliminating single-use plastic water bottles and replacing plastic straws with reusable glass and aluminum ones.

Environmental awareness training is offered for local college students at Jamaluddin School to educate the next generation in conservation issues and to empower youth to participate in creating change.

We support Parley ocean initiatives and campaigns and follow their recycling programs.

Regular beach clean-ups are part of our weekly routine and dive against debris dive specialty are offered to our guests interested in joining the global Project AWARE movement.

Scubaspa also cooperates closely with the Maldives Whale Shark Research Program to promote its community-focused conservation initiatives.
